I have just returned from a fabulous trip to Europe - the home of Geomancy. Traditionally Geomancy was known as the practice of identifying various ‘earth radiations’ impacting on human behaviour. However, it now seems to incorporate Feng Shui as opposed to being used as an additional service.

This voyage across the seas was purely business oriented - it was the International Feng Shui Congress held in Innsbruck, Austria. How could I not enjoy myself. Innsbruck is just glorious, with its mountainous surrounds and beautiful river rushing through the city. I managed to have an exciting and enjoyable time and made the most of every moment.

The Congress was extremely well attended and people within the Feng Shui Industry came from all over the world. Apart from a strong presence from other European countries, there were consultants from America, various regions of Africa, the Philippines, India and of course myself from Perth, Australia.

Presentations were given by various leaders within their specific area of knowledge and expertise. Master Raymond Lo was requested to present on several topics which he did, to everyone’s delight and with his usual aplomb. His lectures were very well attended and always informative. There was also Yap Cheng Hai from Malaysia who always takes his good humour with him wherever he goes. A true gentleman, Victor Dy from the Philipines was there as was Larry Sangs principle student Simona Mainini - who has an excellent way of presenting the movements of energy.

Whilst I was there, one of the factors that struck me rather heavily was that everyone is using Feng Shui to describe and market any material item that’s being manufactured. There are not only Feng Shui candles but Feng Shui shoes made by fashion king Jimmy Choo as well as a Feng Shui Broom to help clear your clutter. Is this going too far? Well....I’ll leave you to make up your own mind about that.

There are so many things affecting us in this modern world that the important point is to ensure that we raise our level of consciousness towards our surrounding environment. It’s imperative that we take care of it and work with our ‘surrounds’ to have the environment support us throughout our daily lives. For some, this includes buying scented candles, having an aromatherapy bath or burning incense so that we feel better within ourselves. Feng Shui, however, is ensuring that our homes are in harmony, not only with ourselves but also with the landscape.

For those of you who are interested in knowing how to make the best use of your given environment by applying Feng Shui principles, there’s some good news. Master Raymond Lo is coming back to Perth to teach Feng Shui as well as the I Ching. He will begin teaching on the 19th August through until the 24th.
